Tópos

The cafeteria project at the Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki is a space that asks: How do we want to live and create together? It seeks to turn thought into action and interaction into form….

Tópos is a café that views food as a cultural and social force. It is not merely a place to eat, but a vibrant gathering spot where gastronomy, education, and culture converge.

Sustainable consumption is at the heart of everything we do: local ingredients, biodynamic products, partnerships with regional producers, and virtually waste-free food preparation.

At the same time, Tópos creates a space for exchange and learning. Artists, cultural creators, neighbors, visitors, and course participants come together at exhibitions, discussions, workshops, and educational events. Food is experienced and shared as a cultural asset—from sourdough to “the cuisine of ordinary people.”

In this way, Tópos combines food, education, and culture into a “public work of art” that fosters community, shares knowledge, and enriches Thessaloniki with an inclusive, vibrant space.
